My Famous Bed
My famous bed has known the best of the lovers
Brando and Gable of the great silver screen
I’d be so graceful they’d be ragged and rugged
My secret idols of harlequin dreams
CHORUS
And they’d gather around me and dance in my night
On slivers of moonlight they’d rock me to sleep
And there in the darkness, out from under their madness
They’d silently help me to find my way home.
In my holy bed I would pray to the Gospel
Jesus and David, Peter and Paul
And even those traitors that I somewhat believed in
I prayed for no reason I trusted them all
CHORUS
My empty bed once sheltered a young blood
Hungry and restless beyond his time
He was out for the dealing bewitched by the danger
That loving a stranger is not always kind.
But he gathered around me and danced in my night
On slivers of moonlight rocked me to sleep
And there in the darkness, we made love to our madness
And silently, peacefully, quietly
We found our way home
