Quilts
Quilt Fly over
This was a kit, and a major challenge. More of a wall hanging than a quilt. 48" x 36" I sewed the pieces together, and then quilted in straight lines. After a while I worried that I was suffering from vertigo. Nope, just too many stripes!
Quilt Weave the Color
This quilt serves as a nunny blankey on my black couch in my living room. Pattern designed by Angela Walters, but I chose the colors and placement. As Joni Mitchell once said, "It's the kind of crazy you get from too much choice." I took it to a "long arm" quilter and she did the musical notes. Couldja bust?
Quilt, duvet, pillows, headboard
After years of making duvets from bed sheets, I decided to try my hand at a whole bed set using fancy home decor fabrics, like interior designers use. Here's my duvet covering a down comforter, my first ever quilt (halved to show duvet) and some decorative pillows. The headboard was just some wood board, foam cushioning, some yummy fabric, and a staple gun! A major accomplishment for me.
Quilt Steve's shirts
When my beloved brother passed away at the age of 66, his daughter asked me if I could made her a memory quilt. How cathartic was this! She was sooooooo happy and grateful, and keeps it on her living room sofa as a daily reminder that her father is close and her aunt Sally loves her.
Baby Quilt
I took a wonderful quilting class and here are the "block" samples that teach how to construct shapes other than squares. So from beginning to end, I learned to do piecing and construction, with tops and batting, to quilting. Free motion quilting, is like doodling with a pointy needle at 60 miles per hour. Not for weenies.
